Born in Brooklyn and raised in the Bronx, Talitha graduated from Pratt
Institute and is currently still in New York. She was first introduced to
Industrial Design her junior year at Brooklyn Technical High School
and chose to pursue it in college. Early on in college she was greatly
influenced by the design philosophy of her 3D teacher Kathryn Filla,
former student of Rowena Costello, which was simply "If you are going
to make something, make it beautiful". Talitha has adopted that idea,
and the basics of three dimensional design as taught by Pratt, to form
her own design aesthetic.
As a designer Talitha has experienced the design process, from
sketching to prototyping, and has worked in a different areas of
design. She has designed furniture, shoes, bags, tabletop items, and
other products such as perfume bottles, cd cases, baby bottles, and
lights. She is looking to gain experience in other areas such as exhibition
design, transportation design, and toy design. She'd also like to learn
more about the process of design after prototyping, i.e. manufacturing
or marketing and sales. Talitha wants to view the whole picture of
design and how she fits into it.
